About ETHOS 21st

Jan Bohren is the principal of ETHOS 21st. He developed this ethics program and approach following an inspirational seminar he attended at the Aspen Institute of Humanistic Studies in 1982. He has conducted this seminar often in a classroom environment, at national conferences, before national business organizations, and in several organizations with which he has been affiliated. Jan's academic background is in Human Resources (B.S., San Diego State University) and he completed the Senior Managers in Government program at Harvard University. He has participated in formal management seminars conducted by the Aspen Institute, the Brookings Institution, The Conference Board, and numerous other corporate and business groups. His business experience includes senior executive positions in the private sector, the federal government, and a university. In addition to hisconsulting business, Jan is an adjuct professor in the Graduate Program in Human Rescource Management at Mercy College.

Jan has delivered his ethics seminar to dozens of groups involving thousands of individuals, tailoring the scope and approach to the specific needs of the host organization. He has developed codes of ethics and ethics hotlines for corporations (in conjunction with the Federal Sentencing Guidelines), and has been consulted frequently by organizations seeking assistance in improving the understanding of the importance of ethical behavior and seeking counsel on specific ethical situations or dilemmas.

Professional affiliations have included the Corporate Leadership Council, the National Academy of Public Administration (Panel Member), Council for Excellence in Government (Charter Member), and the BNA Personnel Policies Forum. Jan's general management consulting focuses on human resources policy development and implementation, change management, and employee problem resolution. He is the author of "Reinforcing Ethics at Work" (Human Resources Professional - Winter 1992) and "Six Myths of Sexual Harassment" (AMA Management Review - 1993).
